I am married to Lisa, the father of two rambunctious boys; ages seven and five. I received
my training at Grays Harbor college, and Evergreen State. I also did a fifth year and my student teaching through St. Martin's
University. I am a huge Civil War reader, and also have done a great deal of reading on World War II. In my spare time I spend
time with my family, and enjoy water skiing and weight lifting. I also coached middle school football for twenty years and
middle school girls basketball for ten.
One of the best experiences my family and I have had is our trip recently touring Civil War
battlefields of the Western Theatre. These included the Perryville battlesite in Kentucky, Shiloh in east Tennessee, Murfreesboro
in central Tennessee, and Franklin just below Nashville. We also were impressed with the largest of the Civil War national
parks, Chicamauga in northern Georgia. The parks are so beautiful now, it is hard to imagine how they would have looked at
the time of the respective battles. One does feel a certain reverence knowing what occured there however. I did feel a better
understanding of the battles knowing the landscape and the topography more intimately.
